Baffin Bay is a bay in South Texas, an inlet of the larger Laguna Madre. Located near the Gulf of Mexico, Baffin Bay forms part of the boundary between Kenedy County, Kenedy Ranch on the south shoreline and Kleberg County, King Ranch on the North shorline.
Located less than an hour away from Corpus Christi, Baffin Bay is a popular fishing destination. Plenty of lodging is available on the bay at Bayview Campground as well as Kingsville TX which is only 22 miles away. Kingsville is the county seat of Kleberg County where the magnificent King Ranch makes its home. Plenty of wildlife abound around Kingsville and on the shores of beautiful Baffin Bay.
Baffin Bay is where the last two State Record Speckled Trout were caught. A distinctive feature of both Baffin and Alazan Bays is the presence of ancient serpulid worm reefs. Calcareous worm tubes form both patch and field reefs in the area and provide hard substrate in a region typically dominated by soft sediments. As a result, these reefs are considered important portions of the natural ecosystem and may significantly contribute to biological productivity. Trout truly like these prehistoric rock formations. They provide shelter and bait fish for all species of fish. Similar to the Laguna Madre, Baffin Bay receives no river input. However, Olmos Creek, San Fernando Creek and Santa Gertrudis Creek provide some freshwater inflow during periods of rainfall. Redfish, drum and flounder can also be caught in Baffin Bay.
